about us

about us

millimetre is a multi-award winning community of bold, playful and meticulous makers and designers. It is a forward-thinking group of daring perfectionists, known for combining grand scale with tiny detail in projects such as A House For Essex (Grayson Perry, 2015) Double Space (V&A, 2014) and A Room For London (Living Architecture, 2011).

Established in 2006, the devoted team of 21 staff and associates has worked on over 100 projects with leading artists like Grayson Perry, architects including Make and global brands such as BMW.

millimetre has worked in conjunction with London Design Festival, the Victoria & Albert Museum, Channel 4, the Science Museum, the RCA, Transport for London and others to produce some of the UK’s most talked-about work.

It offers a complete wraparound service, from conceptualisation and planning through to building, development, installation and ongoing maintenance for the life of the project. millimetre takes care of all policies, regs and necessary documentation and has a loyal network of trusted contractors, saving you the stress of coordinating multiple teams.

our values

millimetre strives to be an ethical, conscientious company with values that permeate every aspect of its organisation and project work.

pushing boundaries

Play and experimentation are at the heart of the practice, earning millimetre the reputation for realising ideas that may at first seem impossible. This is seen in work such as Double Space and Zotem.

honest & hardworking

millimetre believes in clear communication, transparent processes, fair pricing and best practice.

craft & quality

millimetre’s success stems from precise craftsmanship and intuitive problem-solving. Processes, niche skills and custom machinery are prized as highly as the finished project. Find out more about how millimetre works.

care & cooperation

millimetre is a close-knit team with four co-directors and a flat hierarchy. An ethos of equality means everyone pulls together, blending different strengths for the common good of the project in hand. Find out more about the team.
