Hampshire Cricket’s fastest bowlers are celebrated in this playful piece of public art – a slow-motion capture of the bowler’s delivery stride, elevation into the air, final stride on to the popping crease, and release of the ball towards the stumps. The six figures reflect the significance of the number in cricket scoring.

millimetre designed and developed the piece alongside the artist. The six figures were laser cut from mild steel of various thicknesses. The components are spaced apart and bolted together. The line of the ball was created by rolling a section of 50mm x 20mm mild steel, bolted to the six cricketers. The piece was then shot blasted, zinc sprayed and finished with three layers of white oil. We also installed the sculpture, lifting it onto a flatbed vehicle with a hi–ab crane.
