Strand Sculptural Benches
LDA Design
Three sculptural timber benches for LDA Design and Westminster City Council. Public seating at scale.

Along the newly pedestrianised Strand, we designed, made and installed three sculptural benches that bring calm to one of London’s busiest areas. Each piece was the final element in the wider redevelopment, giving people a place to pause, sit and take in the space.

The build combined digital fabrication with traditional craft. We began by scanning the full site to understand every shift in the ground. From this data we set tight tolerances, modelling each 900 mm panel in Rhino before milling it in Accoya. Every section was unique, then scribed, adjusted and finished by hand. This blend of precision and patience defined the project.

Led by Adam and Dave in the studio, our collaboration with LDA Design grew quickly. Clear communication and mutual trust helped us move through details with confidence.

The result is a set of long, flowing forms that sit naturally within the Strand. Accuracy, durability and long-term use define the benches’ contribution to the Strand.
