What we do
Scale is never the starting point. Decisions are. We focus on how something is made, how it performs over time, and how it sits in the world once it’s finished. We work closely with artists, architects, and commissioners, often on projects that require new ways of thinking or making.

How we work
Millimetre take responsibility from early thinking through to fabrication and installation. Materials, tolerances, and construction methods are considered alongside environmental impact and long-term use. We are reliable and precise, and we stand behind what we make, choosing work that brings people together.
Design and development
Good making starts early. We work with artists, architects and clients to develop the geometry, materials, details and construction methods needed to make an idea real. Sometimes that means developing an existing design. Sometimes it starts with a sketch, model or problem yet to be solved.

From idea to material
The studio works closely with the workshop throughout the process. Digital modelling, technical drawing and physical testing sit alongside material samples and prototypes. This allows decisions to be tested early, before they become difficult or expensive to change.
Engineering the detail
Complex work often comes down to small decisions: how materials meet, how a structure moves, or how something is transported, assembled or maintained. Where needed, we bring specialist engineers together with our own understanding of materials and fabrication.

Our Services

Design
Our design studio takes projects from initial ideas, sketches or architectural drawings through design development and technical resolution. We work across geometry, materials, construction and compliance, bringing in specialist engineering expertise where needed. The aim is simple: understand what the project needs to do, then find a way to make it possible.

Prototype
Prototypes allow ideas to be tested before they become final. We sample materials, finishes, fixings and manufacturing processes through physical and digital testing, understanding what works and what needs to change. We’ve also developed our own tools to assess environmental impact, giving material and fabrication decisions another level of consideration.

Manufacture
Our workshop brings together timber, joinery, metalwork, machining, assembly and finishing. Different disciplines work side by side, allowing designs to move directly from the studio into fabrication. This gives us greater control over quality, timing and detail.

Install
We have installed more than 50 art and architectural projects in venues including the V&A, Tate Modern, the Science Museum and the Southbank Centre. Our installation teams work with the same attention to detail as the workshop. Access, sequencing, lifting and assembly are considered early, helping us install safely and efficiently with minimal disruption.
