millimetre worked with Canadian artist Omer Arbel and design studio Bocci to create a 14.5 metre high glass and metal chandelier, sweeping down the historic staircase and flooding the grand entrance hall with ambient light.
Named after the 157 unique blown glass nuclei, the installation is a sprawling web of one-way mirror coated bulbs, individually hung on suspension cables from a pre-wired, three-part steel powder-coated canopy. Bocci and millimetre co-developed the complex suspension and installation method, navigating the challenges of raising the 300kg frame and affixing it to the steel roof structure 12 metres above ground level.
