September 2010
Millimetre was appointed to develop the design, manufacture and installation of all joinery elements for Maggie’s Cancer Care unit in Cheltenham. The internal joinery is a complex blend of unusual space and structure making this one of the more challenging joinery interiors millimetre have completed. The whole of the Maggies interior was entirely crafted from large solid oak laminations and veneered panels, which came together, using various traditional and contemporary joinery techniques.
As the design for this internal woodwork was incredibly technical with very small tolerances throughout, the detailing and technical design, completed by millimetre was a very important aspect of the project. Some of the elements include, a library, curved bench seating within a north and south pod, a cantilevered oak kitchen with Zodiac work top and a snug area. The snug area had a complex floating ceiling, bi-fold doors and a seating area in front of a sculptural gas fireplace. This project was completed on 28th of September this year.
